Our ambitious perturbation experiment was an enormous, unexpected effort – on a total of 30 plots. Four 10 x 10 m treatments had to be marked per plot, two of them fenced, vegetation and litter was removed from two treatments, and the amount removed was quantified. Seed/litter traps were installed, seedling plots marked out… now it’s all done! On March 25th 2022, the final P-REX plot was finished. The 30th plot was a particularly harsh one: a recovering pasture, still exposed to the heat, sunburn was almost unavoidable. A hard-working implementation team has accomplished this task over months, led by Connie with her enormous energy and organizational talent… and now the science can begin. Unique opportuties to explore post-disturbance recovery of forest species and processes.
