I am an ecologist with interests spanning community ecology, macroecology, and applied conservation. I am particularly interested in understanding the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem stability, as well as the mechanisms underpinning the recovery of ecosystems.
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in subproject Z, carrying out bioinformatic analyses of DNA barcoding and metabarcoding data in support of other subprojects. These approaches are particularly exciting because they allow us to characterise biodiversity at unprecedented scales, including taxa that are often overlooked by traditional survey methods. In particular, host-associated and environmental microbial communities play fundamental roles in ecosystem functioning, influencing processes such as nutrient cycling and species interactions, yet remain relatively understudied. In this context, my role also involves conducting synthesis studies to advance our understanding of microbial community dynamics during ecosystem regeneration.
